Well after a hectic morning of ferrying children to their respective activities I made it to Funk & Tone (my 4th class in one week). Who would have thought it? A few minutes late but hopefully I can be forgiven. Unfortunately, I think one Saturday activity may need to go (sorry Nina but at 18 months you won't notice and I will justify it by saying that it will be better for you in the long run to have a fitter, healthier, happier Mum).
On the positive side I am enjoying the exercise and I am really looking forward to my next class later today. I also slept all the way through until my husband's alarm went off which is a very rare treat. I have always been a rather poor sleeper.
I am, however, still struggling on the diet side of things. I cannot seem to resist a good pudding and I am really not looking forward to getting on the scales tomorrow morning. I will try and be virtuous today in the hope that the scales will be kind.
Thanks for all your comments. It is nice to hear your stories and words of encouragement.

Hi, Jane
ReplyDeleteLike you, I INTEND to be virtuous, but when I get home from class a fresh salad is NOT what I have in mind. Left-over pasta, biscuits; whatever is lying around is all too tempting. Am trying NOT to eat after 8pm at the moment, but exercise needs the cals afterwards - I wouldn't sleep otherwise. Glad you're enjoying it as much as me. I feel I'm getting addicted and wish I could go to MORE than three a week, but as I work full-time and want to spend SOME time with the kids (teens), even three is stretching it. See you around and GOOD LUCK!!!
I;m so interested to see how already you're SLEEPING better - I think hard exercise is like nature's best sleeping tablet without any side effects! I'm the same. Also, I have to say, good for you for facilitating your class by squeezing something else - and like you said, having a happy and healthy mum has gotta be top of the list for any child! It's true that you will need some food after class, keep portions moderate and stick to "good" carbs - wholeweat bread, pasta, oats, avoid pastry, white bread and sugar! also fill up on the protein and veg too. have a snack before class too - a banana, yoghurt, or again wholewheat stuff - something to keep you going. Keep enjoying.. lol Jane Wrafter.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my blog - it's nice to hear what other people think. Wonder how your scales experience went? I've lost the whole of one pound in a week, but to be honest I haven't been really strict with my food, so could have lost more. I could quite happily do a class a night at the moment because I'm enjoying them so much, and have got past the 'hurting afterwards' phase (or am I just not trying hard enough)? My priority is to get exercise to be part of my weekly routine and then I think I will start (and am already) moving to a better diet, especially as spring/summer approaches. That's a long-term goal. My trepidation regarding making my back worse has gone - I could swear it is less painful, which is good enough for me!!!! Cheers, Jennifer
It's lovely to read about your enthusiasm, and the way that the exercise bug gets to you. I have found exactly the same, having blogged about it. I am converted, and go 3 times a week now, and it has had a big impact on my overall life: my husband now feels obliged to come home for 7pm 2x a week, and read to the children -- I'm only out for an hour so we still have time together. I don't feel guilty in the evening, because I feel I have done something positive. I am less of a shouty mummy. I sleep much better, and have far more energy than I used to. Exercise (or to be specific, dancing) has become a necessity not a luxury within the space of a month. So go with your feelings, they are leading you in an amazingly positive direction! Ingrid xx
